Our Mission
Kaneland Special Needs PTA is committed to helping our special needs children aged 3-21 to become confident and productive adults by identifying and addressing their individual needs. To fulfill our commitment, we are working harder than ever to ensure the Kaneland District has the resources they need to better our children’s future. Our investment now, in these children’s future, will provide for emotionally healthy children today as well as contributing members of our society for tomorrow.
Philosophy
Kaneland Special Needs PTA has every attempt to make students with special education needs in the least restrictive environment. Our primary goal is to integrate them into general participation; however, we will make modifications and provide additional needed services in an effort to nurture success. Our children are part of a community and should be given the opportunity to participate in the same projects and events as every other community members, regardless of any physical or mental limitations they may have. Kaneland Special Needs PTA believes typical students serve as models for the children with special needs, inspiring language, creative play and friendships. Typical children gain understanding, acceptance and building kindness values. Kaneland Special Needs PTA welcomes the involvement of any member of our Kaneland community. You do not need to have a child receiving special education services to be a member of Kaneland Special Needs PTA.
“You are a piece of the puzzle of someone else’s life. You may never know where you fit, but others will fill the holes in their lives with pieces of you.”
